🚢✨ Steamboat Arcana 1928 – 📦 Shipping Update 🌟
over 1 year ago – Tue, Jan 28, 2025 at 03:34:30 AM

Hello Backers,

We’re excited to share some updates on the shipping progress for international backers who opted for delivery via China Post. Things are moving along smoothly, and we’re happy to report some good news!

The first batch of international orders shipped out faster than anticipated, thanks to the excellent work of our shipping partner in Shenzhen. Tracking was available for many of these orders, which has been incredibly helpful. Our partner has also been proactively checking on the shipments, and if customers needed to follow up about their orders, they let us know so we could email backers directly.

In this first batch, there were a couple of minor hiccups: one order wasn’t packed correctly, one was missing a mini deck, and we missed a packet to Japan. These have been flagged, and we’ll handle replacements after we complete the second batch of shipments. Overall, shipping from China has gone far better than expected, and we’re pleased with the results so far.

One thing we’ve noticed is that some packages were heavier than expected at around 4 kilograms in some cases. China Post, like many national postal services, is optimized for lightweight items, and pricing tiers are designed to offer the best rates for smaller, lighter packages.

However, as packages get heavier, they move into higher pricing tiers, and the costs can increase significantly. This is due to the added resources required for heavier shipments, such as space, handling, and fuel. The bonus items and stretch goals have contributed to this weight increase, which has made some packages more expensive to ship than we initially anticipated.

For the second batch of orders, we’ve already emailed backers to confirm shipping amounts, and everyone in this group has agreed to the charges. We’ve compiled the information into a spreadsheet for BackerKit and emailed them today. Payments should be processed soon, and we’ll begin shipping these orders shortly after.

We also anticipate a third group of backers who didn’t respond to previous messages. Once the second group is shipped, we’ll follow up with these backers and work on sending out their orders.

For backers in the U.S. and those shipping internationally from the U.S., we’ll have another update in the next few weeks as things develop further and we gain more clarity. By that time, the inventory should arrive at the depot and be unpacked. Once unpacking is complete, we’ll have a clearer picture of the timeline for U.S. shipping and international shipping from the U.S. fulfillment center.

Thank you all for your patience and support as we work through these shipments. We’re thrilled to see Steamboat Arcana 1928 making its way into your hands and can’t wait to hear your thoughts when you receive your decks!

Warmly,

The Steamboat Arcana 1928 Team

🚢 Steamboat Arcana 1928 – New Year Shipping Update! 🚢
over 1 year ago – Fri, Jan 03, 2025 at 09:41:32 PM

Happy New Year, backers!

We hope 2025 is treating you well. As we move into the year, we wanted to share a quick update on Steamboat Arcana 1928 – specifically regarding international orders for backers who chose to have their shipments sent directly from China.

As mentioned in our last update, the main freight shipment was picked up from Ningbo, China, on December 18 and is currently en route to our fulfillment center on the East Coast. If all goes smoothly, it should arrive by late February or early March.

Separate from the main freight, we set aside about one hundred orders for international backers interested in shipping directly from China. A pallet weighing roughly 800 pounds (around 363 kilograms) was sent from Ningbo to Shenzhen for this purpose. A friend and experienced partner we’ve printed with before kindly volunteered to help us ship these orders through China Post.

The pallet for International Backers who opted to ship directly from China.

So far, forty-two backers have responded. We reached out to confirm shipping addresses and provide quotes. Once those prices were approved by backers, we passed the information to BackerKit, which handled email confirmations and payments. After payments were processed, we wired the funds to the shipping company in China to begin sending out the orders.

Orders for China, Hong Kong, and Singapore have already shipped, and the remaining orders (about 36) are labeled and ready to go. Our shipping partner has told us that they will send out these remaining packages in the next two weeks. For backers who haven’t responded yet, we’ll follow up again around the end of January.

Some backers responded after the first batch of orders had been charged, confirming they were okay with the shipping quotes. These orders will be included in the second shipment. Since BackerKit processes payments in groups, we’ll need to repeat the process—charging for this next round and wiring postage to China—before these orders can be sent out.

A small number of direct-ship orders—about eight—had unexpectedly high shipping quotes. We suspect there may have been a miscalculation with the weight, so we decided to send the majority of orders first. In the coming weeks, we’ll double-check the weights and costs before proceeding. Managing this in stages allows us to reduce confusion, prioritize the bulk of orders, and focus on the remaining backers afterward.

We also know that some of our backers in Thailand may encounter higher import fees, so we are taking extra time to carefully handle those orders. We’ll work through them in the next two weeks to ensure everything is accurate and avoid unnecessary costs.

For U.S. backers who expressed interest in shipping directly from China, this option wasn’t feasible since the main freight is already en route to the U.S. and there was no significant savings. Fulfillment will continue as planned once the decks arrive at our East Coast facility.

For international backers who opted for direct shipping from China, thank you for your patience as we finalize these steps. For everyone else, we’re getting closer—and we can’t wait to deliver Steamboat Arcana 1928 to you soon!

Warmly,
The Steamboat Arcana 1928 Team

🚢 🌟✨ Update: Sea Freight and Shipping Progress for Steamboat Arcana 1928 🚢 🌟✨
over 1 year ago – Sat, Dec 07, 2024 at 04:38:22 PM

Hello Backers,

We’re excited to bring you the latest updates on Steamboat Arcana 1928!

Sea Freight Update
The sea freight packages were packed earlier this month, and last week we worked closely with our team to finalize important decisions about import codes and logistics to ensure the smoothest process possible. The earliest available sailing date from our logistics partner’s top co-loaders is December 19th. This date is still being finalized, and I’ll post an update as soon as the shipment is officially accepted.

The estimated transit time for sea freight is typically 8 weeks minimum to the U.S. East Coast. While this timeframe is longer than it was pre-COVID, it reflects the current challenges facing global supply chains, such as cargo volume, limited space, and disruptions from factors like port delays and equipment shortages. Based on this timeline, the decks will likely be in transit during January and February, arriving at Fulfillrite, our fulfillment center in New Jersey, around late February or early March.

International Orders Update
For backers who chose to ship directly from China, there were approximately 100 of you. Most have already been contacted with the estimated shipping costs, and we’ve asked for confirmation. For those who’ve agreed, we plan to charge cards around December 16th. We’ll do our best to see that these orders are sent out before the end of the year.

For international backers whose orders will ship from the USA, we will be able to input the box dimensions and weight into the Fulfillrite system to generate accurate shipping fee estimates. We will begin reaching out to backers with this information in January and February while the sea freight is in transit. You’ll be notified about shipping costs and the total amount for your order in advance, and we’ll let you know before we charge cards to collect international shipping fees.

The final product represents a tremendous amount of work, craft, attention to detail, and love ❤️ —and we’re incredibly proud of how it’s come together. We’re excited for you to experience it, and we’re confident it will be well worth the wait!

Thank you for your patience and continued support as we navigate these final stages. We’re committed to ensuring everything goes as smoothly as possible and will keep you updated along the way.

Warm regards,
The Steamboat Arcana 1928 Team

🚢 🌟✨ Pre-Packing and Sea Freight Preparations Moving Forward 🚢 🌟✨
almost 2 years ago – Fri, Nov 08, 2024 at 02:32:05 PM

Hello Backers,

We’re excited to share another update on the progress of Steamboat Arcana 1928!

Production was officially completed a couple weeks ago, and our printer is pre-packing all the boxes to ensure a smooth journey to your doorstep. This pre-packing means that when the boxes arrive in the USA, they’ll be ready for immediate fulfillment. We’ve included some videos from the printer for a behind-the-scenes look at this phase—check them out!

Shipping Preparations
This past week, we’ve focused on logistics with Fulfillrite, our fulfillment partner. We’ve entered all UPCs, weights, and dimensions into their system, which helps us accurately estimate shipping costs, particularly for international orders.

We’re also working to have Fulfillrite communicate directly with the printer to streamline the international freight process. Currently, we’re waiting on an items list from the printer that includes the quantity of each item in inventory. Once we have this list, we’ll create an ASN (Advance Shipping Notice), and the sea-freight stage will begin. Once sea freight is underway, we should have a much clearer picture of the shipping timeline.

Additionally, we reached out to backers who requested shipping directly from China to confirm addresses. We’re finalizing rates with our Chinese shipping partner, and these will be the first orders to ship.

Navigating Challenges and Celebrating Wins
Working with the printer and relying on them has posed challenges, leading to unexpected delays along the way. However, it’s also important to acknowledge the many positives in their work. Their efforts with pre-packing and attention to detail in quality control have been invaluable. While we may need to partner with a new printer for future projects to streamline timelines, we’re grateful for the ways this team has contributed to bringing Steamboat Arcana to life.

Once the shipping schedule is set, we’ll share it with you, and we should have more clarity soon on when shipping for the sea freight will begin. It's all coming together. We just wish it were coming together quicker.

Thank you for your patience and understanding throughout this process. We’re thrilled with how the final product has turned out, and we’re grateful to have you with us on this journey. We can’t wait for you to see the results of all this hard work!

Warm regards,
The Steamboat Arcana 1928 Team

The  printer made these videos for us to test boxes for pre-packaging and there will be packing straw included. It's not the most excting thing, but you can see how everything came together and looks.

Here are some photos of the Steamboat Arcana 1928 mini-deck tins.

We are working with the printer and the fulfillment company to make plans for sea-freight.
