Hello Backers,

A huge thank you 🙏 to everyone who gave feedback on the test shipments—it was really appreciated! ✨ Your input helped us ensure everything is running smoothly. 💖💕

We started general shipping a few weeks ago, and we’re making great progress. We’re nearly finished with the Standard Dual Adventure reward tier for US backers, with deliveries expected to be completed by the end of March. Next, we’ll be moving on to the Early Bird Double Feature reward tier, which should be delivered by the end of April.

International Orders Shipping from the US 

Starting around March 15th, we’ll begin reaching out to international backers whose orders are shipping from the US. Since we’re charging exact shipping, the process will involve reaching out individually to confirm shipping costs before moving forward. After confirming the amount, we’ll send the details to BackerKit, and they’ll email you with the charge before shipping.

Since this takes time, we’ll be doing these shipments and having BackerKit charge in groups of about 20 backers or more at a time to keep things moving smoothly.

PayPal Option for Faster Shipping (International Backers) 📦

For international backers who’d like to get their order shipped sooner, we’re offering an option to pay via PayPal after March 10th. If you’d like to go this route, you can email me at [email protected] and I’ll let you know the exact shipping cost. Once the payment is sent, we’ll ship your order right away.

Both methods work just fine, but PayPal tends to be a little quicker and more convenient on our end.

For future Kickstarters, we’ll be simplifying the process by setting a flat international shipping rate based on reward tiers to make things easier for everyone.

Single Standard Decks & Single Mini Decks

Shipping for the Single Standard Decks & Single Mini Decks will begin in May.

Originally, we planned to charge shipping for these tiers, just in case costs ended up being higher than expected. We wanted cover shipping ourselves as a nice suprise for backers, but unexpected tariff fees (due to forms filled out incorrectly by the printer) made this a real challenge. Even with that, we’re still trying to cover as much of the shipping as possible out of pocket.

After shipping the Double Standard Deck tiers, we’ll have a better idea of where we stand—and whether we’ll need to charge shipping for these categories (as originally planned) or if we’ll be able to cover it ourselves as a thank-you to our backers.

For US backers in these tiers who’d like to cover their shipping (as originally planned) and receive their order sooner, we’re offering the option to pay $10 via PayPal (even if the actual shipping cost is higher for us), and we’ll send it out right away after March 10th.

Hello Backers,

We have great news—Fulfillrite has finished loading the inventory! We’re now conducting a test run of shipments before full fulfillment begins.

Why a Test Run?

Before we begin shipping all orders, we’re sending out a small batch to:

• Confirm shipping costs and timeline for different package sizes and destinations.
• Ensure everything is packed correctly and arrives without damage.
• Identify and fix any potential issues early, so we can make adjustments before the bulk of shipments go out.

This test batch allows us to gather feedback and make sure everything is running smoothly, which is always better than discovering problems later in the process. Some backers in the test batch should receive their packages next week. Hopefully, when your package arrives, you’ll message us with feedback! It’s very helpful to the process, and we’d love to hear your thoughts and see how everything turned out.

Tracking Information

Every package will have tracking, and you should receive an email with your tracking number once your order ships. If you don’t see an email, be sure to check your spam or promotions folder.

Make Sure Your Address is Up to Date!

Please take a moment to double-check your address in BackerKit to ensure everything is correct. We will be locking addresses on February 14th, so if you need to make any changes, please do so before then.

If your shipping situation has changed for any reason, whether due to relocation or other circumstances, please update your address in BackerKit or reach out to us as soon as possible.

Expected Shipping Timeline

We anticipate shipping will begin around February 20th and continue over the next two and a half months, finishing around April 20th.

That said, we are balancing fulfillment alongside other major responsibilities, and we want this process to be kind, fun, and manageable for our own well-being, too. Our commitment has always been to make something wonderful and share it with our backers. We’ve learned a lot through this process, and thanks to everything we’ve figured out along the way, we’ll be able to deliver quality much faster on our next Kickstarters. While we’re working hard to get this out as soon as possible, we also want this to be a positive experience for everyone—including us!

Making Sure Everything Ships Smoothly

One major factor is that many orders may need to be manually entered due to SKU mismatches. The original BackerKit survey data does not perfectly align with the SKU numbers that were generated after production. This means some orders won’t process automatically and will need to be manually reviewed and entered, which adds time to the fulfillment process.

To help streamline this, we’ve been working with BackerKit, who have been extremely helpful so far. We’re reaching out to them to see if they can assist us further in resolving these issues more efficiently. Their support may help us speed up the process and reduce the amount of manual entry required.

International Shipping from the U.S.

For backers shipping internationally from the U.S., we’ll start reaching out at the beginning of March. We now have accurate sizes and weights for everything, and Fulfillrite has a shipping estimate calculator. I checked about six international orders, and the shipping options all seemed very reasonable.

Hello Backers,

We’re excited to share some updates on the shipping progress for international backers who opted for delivery via China Post. Things are moving along smoothly, and we’re happy to report some good news!

The first batch of international orders shipped out faster than anticipated, thanks to the excellent work of our shipping partner in Shenzhen. Tracking was available for many of these orders, which has been incredibly helpful. Our partner has also been proactively checking on the shipments, and if customers needed to follow up about their orders, they let us know so we could email backers directly.

In this first batch, there were a couple of minor hiccups: one order wasn’t packed correctly, one was missing a mini deck, and we missed a packet to Japan. These have been flagged, and we’ll handle replacements after we complete the second batch of shipments. Overall, shipping from China has gone far better than expected, and we’re pleased with the results so far.

One thing we’ve noticed is that some packages were heavier than expected at around 4 kilograms in some cases. China Post, like many national postal services, is optimized for lightweight items, and pricing tiers are designed to offer the best rates for smaller, lighter packages. 

However, as packages get heavier, they move into higher pricing tiers, and the costs can increase significantly. This is due to the added resources required for heavier shipments, such as space, handling, and fuel. The bonus items and stretch goals have contributed to this weight increase, which has made some packages more expensive to ship than we initially anticipated.

For the second batch of orders, we’ve already emailed backers to confirm shipping amounts, and everyone in this group has agreed to the charges. We’ve compiled the information into a spreadsheet for BackerKit and emailed them today. Payments should be processed soon, and we’ll begin shipping these orders shortly after.

We also anticipate a third group of backers who didn’t respond to previous messages. Once the second group is shipped, we’ll follow up with these backers and work on sending out their orders.

For backers in the U.S. and those shipping internationally from the U.S., we’ll have another update in the next few weeks as things develop further and we gain more clarity. By that time, the inventory should arrive at the depot and be unpacked. Once unpacking is complete, we’ll have a clearer picture of the timeline for U.S. shipping and international shipping from the U.S. fulfillment center.

Happy New Year, backers!

We hope 2025 is treating you well. As we move into the year, we wanted to share a quick update on Steamboat Arcana 1928 – specifically regarding international orders for backers who chose to have their shipments sent directly from China.

As mentioned in our last update, the main freight shipment was picked up from Ningbo, China, on December 18 and is currently en route to our fulfillment center on the East Coast. If all goes smoothly, it should arrive by late February or early March.

Separate from the main freight, we set aside about one hundred orders for international backers interested in shipping directly from China. A pallet weighing roughly 800 pounds (around 363 kilograms) was sent from Ningbo to Shenzhen for this purpose. A friend and experienced partner we’ve printed with before kindly volunteered to help us ship these orders through China Post.

So far, forty-two backers have responded. We reached out to confirm shipping addresses and provide quotes. Once those prices were approved by backers, we passed the information to BackerKit, which handled email confirmations and payments. After payments were processed, we wired the funds to the shipping company in China to begin sending out the orders.

Orders for China, Hong Kong, and Singapore have already shipped, and the remaining orders (about 36) are labeled and ready to go. Our shipping partner has told us that they will send out these remaining packages in the next two weeks. For backers who haven’t responded yet, we’ll follow up again around the end of January.  

Some backers responded after the first batch of orders had been charged, confirming they were okay with the shipping quotes. These orders will be included in the second shipment. Since BackerKit processes payments in groups, we’ll need to repeat the process—charging for this next round and wiring postage to China—before these orders can be sent out.

A small number of direct-ship orders—about eight—had unexpectedly high shipping quotes. We suspect there may have been a miscalculation with the weight, so we decided to send the majority of orders first. In the coming weeks, we’ll double-check the weights and costs before proceeding. Managing this in stages allows us to reduce confusion, prioritize the bulk of orders, and focus on the remaining backers afterward.

We also know that some of our backers in Thailand may encounter higher import fees, so we are taking extra time to carefully handle those orders. We’ll work through them in the next two weeks to ensure everything is accurate and avoid unnecessary costs.

For U.S. backers who expressed interest in shipping directly from China, this option wasn’t feasible since the main freight is already en route to the U.S. and there was no significant savings. Fulfillment will continue as planned once the decks arrive at our East Coast facility.

For international backers who opted for direct shipping from China, thank you for your patience as we finalize these steps. For everyone else, we’re getting closer—and we can’t wait to deliver Steamboat Arcana 1928 to you soon!
